Mickey Baker Hicks, 89, of Bristol, Va., passed from this world to her Heavenly Home, Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008 at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mickey was a good and caring mother who made many sacrifices for the benefit of her children. To those who knew her, she was an honest, kind, gentle and giving person and held no grudges.
Mickey spent her early childhood in the Cleveland and Lebanon, Va. area, before moving to Coeburn. She graduated from Coeburn High School in 1936, and lived in Coeburn for many years before moving to Bristol in 1965.
Also a member of State Street United Methodist Church and a past member of Coeburn United Methodist Church.
Mickey was preceded in death by her husband, Wade C. Hicks, parents, Dayton and Mabel Litz Baker, Sister June Baker Belcher; brothers, John D. Baker, Sr. and George G. "Jiggs" Baker.
She is survived by one daughter, June L. Hicks of Nashville, TN; son and daughter-in-law, John H. and Betty J. Hicks of Piney Flats, TN and son, C.L. Hicks, CA.; Grandson J. Brian Hicks and wife, Holly of Jonesborough, TN; one sister, Dolores B. Vicars of Coeburn; Several nieces and nephews, including John D. Baker, Jr. of Kingsport, TN.

Visitation for Mickey B. Hicks will be held at Estes Funeral Home Chapel, after 12 Noon, Friday, Aug. 29, 2008 and graveside service and burial at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Gary "Pete" Pardue officiating. Pallbearers will be friends and family. The family wishes to extend special thanks and appreciation to neighbors and good friends, Ronnie and Lillie Cox, Nan McGaha, Roger and Hazel Mitchell, Elsie Goad and Mary Crenshaw. Special care was also given by doctors and staff of Johnson City Medical Center, Northside Transitional Care, Appalachian Christian Village Health Care Center, Johnson City Internal Medicine and Heart and Vascular Cardiology Group. Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., Coeburn, VA is in charge of arrangements.
