On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Mildred Louise Jordan Salyers transitioned from a resident of Coeburn, VA, to the Land of Glory. Mildred's greatest desire and daily prayer was to see all her family saved and to love the Lord with a true heart, following Him all their days. Mildred was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Coeburn for many years, attending regularly and serving faithfully.
Mildred was the daughter of the late Fred and Dolly James Jordan. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Billy D. Salyers; her siblings Raymond "Bud" Jordan, Jeanette (Bud) Lawson, Shelby (James, Sr.) Beck, and Nancy (Ulysses) Funk; nephews Michael Smith and Kevin Beck; and niece Mary Catherine Smith.
Mildred is survived by her nieces and nephews, Deborah (Roy) Bright of Norton, VA, Donna (Louna) Lawson of Coeburn, VA, Clara (Barry) House of Hindman, KY, Randy Beck of Coeburn, VA, and Joe (Cindy) Funk who were all devoted caregivers for her. Mildred is also survived by three grandchildren, Abner (Ashley) Flores of Maryland, Ashley Flores of Georgia, and Cristal Laguerra of Alabama; six great-grandchildren; a very special sister, Margaret Jordan of Abingdon, VA; nieces and nephews, Ruthie Funk Rainey (fiancé Randy Jenkins) of Morristown, TN, Teresa (Kevin) Sutherland of Abingdon, VA, Sharon (John) Odle of Coeburn, VA, James (Kathy) Beck, Jr., of Maryland, and David (Angie) Beck of Pennington Gap, VA; and a host of great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews who all love her dearly.
Funeral services for Mildred Louise Jordan Salyers will be held on Sunday May 3, 2026, at 5:00pm with Pastor Brandon White officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00pm until time of services. Burial will be on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 11:00am in the Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mt. Home, TN.
Serving as pallbearers are Randy Beck, Caleb Lawson, Joshua Lawson, Todd Powers, Danny Jordan, and Barry House.
The family would like to send special appreciation to Dr. Ashley Bevins of Holston Medical Group and Caris Healthcare for their care and support as well as to all those who have called, texted, visited, and sent food.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Friendship Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1895, Coeburn, VA 24230.
