Coeburn, VA ~ Myra Jessie Stillwell Carnette, 96 passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2010 at her residence in Coeburn Virginia.
She was born in Toms Creek, VA on July 5, 1914 to the the late Ella Ratliffe and George Washington Stillwell.
Myra lived in Coeburn all of her life and was the oldest living member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Coeburn.
Myra was preceeded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Carson Eugene Carnette, Sr.; 4 sisters and 4 brothers.
Survivors include, 4 daughters, Shirley Perry, Bluefield, WV, Charlotte Brown, Coeburn, Linda Jordan and spouse David, Fairfax, VA andElizabeth Blair, and spouse, Robert, Beckley, WV; 6 sons, Carson and spouse, Ortygia, Fredericksburg, VA, Calvin, Joe and Sandy, all of Coeburn, Anthony and spouse, Chesteen, Kingsport, TN and Johnny and spouse, Robon, Charlotte, N.C.; 3sisters, Kathleen Bailey, Mary Kate Smalls, Beckley, WV, Doris Spence, Columbus, OH; 2 brothers, Earl Stillwell, Bluefield, WV and James Stillwell, Columbus, OH; 1 sister-in-law, Vergie Freeman and spouse, Joe, Martinsville, VA; special friend, Elizabeth Turner and adopted son, Dr. Maurice Nida; 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends that loved her dearly.

The family will receive friends at Estes Funeral Home on Friday, October 8, 2010 from 6 to 9 P.M. Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Mabrey officiating. Burial will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, VA.
