Nathaniel Herbert Mooney, 74, of Coeburn, VA  entered into rest on January 1, 2024 at his home after an illness. Born in West Virginia, he was a son of the Joe Bill and Addie Ruth Whiteside Mooney.  He was a veteran of the US Army and worked as a Lineman in the Construction Industry. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and mowing, but his favorite times were those with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Frances Mooney; a brother, Raymond Mooney; daughters, Danielle Mooney and Latisha Banks.

Surviving are:  sons, Regie (Mandy) Banks of Ohio, William (Leilam) Short of Coeburn and Eric (Debora) Short of Wise; daughters, Melcia Mooney of Coeburn, Jordan (Lucas) Short of Coeburn, Christa Short of Coeburn, brother, Estel (Nancy) Whiteside of Kansas, sister, Joann Mooney of Coeburn and Brenda (Jake) Ravizee of Lynch, KY; special niece, Mimi Mooney of Coeburn; grandchildren, Ebony, Ivory, Stephanie, Bradley, Eric, Caraline, Dawson, Xavier, Elijah, Samuel, Theodore, Carter, Zachary, Leah and Zander; special grandchildren, Kimberley, Kelsey Kallie, and King.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
