Olath "Ray" Slemp, 88, entered into his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport, TN.

Ray was born May 27, 1933, to the late Luther and Leafie Slemp, in Dickenson County, VA. He was a Deacon at First Freewill Baptist Church of Bull Run for 50 plus years.

In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Opal Corder Slemp; 2 sisters, Nell Yates and Nova Lawson; 3 brothers, CB Slemp, Morrell Slemp, and Joe Slemp.

Survivors include 3 sons, Doug (Lillian) Slemp, James (Nora) Slemp and Jerry (Sheila) Slemp all of Coeburn, VA; 5 grandchildren, Daniel Slemp, Kimberly (Eddie) Kiser, Kalah (Robbie) Bush, Daniel Rose, and Dustin Slemp; 4 great grandchildren, Holly, Madison, Morgan Kiser, and Peyton Bush; One brother, Jimmy (Carol) Slemp of Coeburn, VA; along with several nieces and nephews and many special friends.

Visitation for Ray will be Friday April 15, 2022, from 5p.m. to 7p.m. at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, VA.  Funeral services will follow at 7p.m. with Rev. Shawn Dupuie and Pastor PJ Rose officiating. Special Music will be provided by Martin Funk and Tommy Kiser. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in Greenwood Acres, Coeburn, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Slemp, Dustin Slemp, Daniel Rose, Eddie Kiser, Robbie Bush, David Slemp, and Jim Ray Slemp. Honorary Pallbearers will be Peyton Bush and Morgan Kiser.
