Abingdon, VA ~ Opal Geneva Amburgey Salyers, 79 passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia.
She retired after teaching 30+ years at Coeburn High School.
She was the daughter of the late Melvina Mullins Amburgey and John Robert Amburgey also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hugh Salyers, Sr.; three sisters, Elva J. Powers, Mary Avia Funk, June DeHart; a brother, Jona Silas Amburgey.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Rogers, Wise, and Roberta Salyers, Carrollton, TX; a son, Donald Hugh Salyers, Jr., Coeburn; 4 grandchildren, Brandon Salyers, Peyton Rogers, Alexandra Rogers and Emma Salyers; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and burial for Opal Geneva Salyers will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 4:00 PM at Greenwood Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Wednesday 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 5 to 7 at Estes Funeral Home. Also a memorial service will be held Nov. 17, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday at Abingdon First Baptist Church in Abingdon. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., Coeburn, VA.
