Phyllis Eugenia “Jean” Culbertson
September 30, 1937 – November 5, 2026
Phyllis Eugenia “Jean” Culbertson, age 89, of Coeburn, Virginia, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
Born on September 30, 1937, Jean was the daughter of the late Ezra and Edna Mae Culbertson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Hubbard; her first husband, Don Culbertson; her beloved son, Terry Culbertson; her sister, Burma Hamilton; and her brother, Bob Culbertson.

Jean leaves behind three loving daughters, Donna Akers and husband Don, Vonda Robinson and husband John, Lisa Christian; and one surviving sister, Ina Faye Elton of Akron, Ohio.

She is also survived by her seven cherished grandchildren, Amanda Little and husband Jerry, Angela Owens and husband Luke, Robert Greear and wife Susan, Justin Greear and wife Miranda, Steven Culbertson, Michael Christian, and Ashley Robinson; along with her special bonus granddaughter, Tiffany Russell and husband Rob.

Jean was also blessed with several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. Among those who held a special place in her heart were Vonda Hale, David Lackey, and Theresa Lackey.

Jean was of the Christian faith and lived a life filled with love for her family and those around her. She will always be remembered for her love of life, her strength, and the special bond she shared with her children, grandchildren, and generations of family. Her greatest joy was her family, and the love she gave so freely will never be forgotten.

Although her earthly journey has come to an end, her family finds peace and comfort in knowing she is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior. Her memory will forever be treasured, and the love she leaves behind will never fade. A special thank you to Heritage Hall in Big Stone Gap and Caris Hospice Healthcare for the wonderful care they provided.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Forever loved, never forgotten, and always in our hearts.
