Richard "Leon" Sexton, 65, of Coeburn, VA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Dickenson County Hospital.

He was the best dad and papaw to his girls and grandchildren.

He was a son of the late Rev. Hagan Sexton and Shirley Ann Bond Sexton.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Sexton and a nephew, Malcolm Courtney.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Tiffany (Adam) Puckett and Amber (Chris) Sexton; grandchildren, Andrew, Chloe, Olivia, Sophia, Sarah and Daniel; brothers, Tim (Karen) Sexton and Billy (Jackie) Mullins; his best friend, Mike Meade; several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 pm with a song service at 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Jerry McCoy officiating. Eulogy will be read by Mike Meade.  Committal service will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Sexton, Tim Sexton, Nick Sexton, Jamie Sexton, Clifford Sexton, Adam Puckett, Chris Duty and Jamie Mullins.

The family would like to express special thanks to In Home Care of Wise, NOVA Healthcare of Weber City and his aides of whom he was very fond, Rhonda Bobliitz and Samantha Gray for their care and compassion during Leon's illness.
