Ricky Lee Hayes, 62, entered into rest Monday, October 14, 2024, at his home in St. Paul, VA. He was born February 15, 1962, in Aurora, IL to the late Dwight Hayes and Betty McCoy Shelton.

Ricky worked as a coal miner and enjoyed fishing and hunting on his time off. He also loved playing golf and spending time with his family and his grandchildren. He was a great husband, dad, grandpa, and friend and will be missed by many.

In addition to his parents, Ricky is preceded in death by his wife, Selina Hayes.

Left to cherish his memories his son, Ricky Lee Hayes II and wife Sherry of St. Paul, VA; daughter, Samantha Hayes of St. Paul, VA; siblings, Robert Hayes, Gordon Shelton and wife, Clara, Cindy Medina and husband, Randy all of Coeburn, VA and Peggy Thacker and husband, Stewart of Coeburn, VA; grandchildren, Carys, Chole, Colten, Brady, Maggie, and Kellie; great-grandchild, Oaklyn; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Family will receive friends Friday, October 18, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the chapel of Estes Funeral home of Coeburn, VA. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm in the chapel. Graveside services will follow in the Hayes Family Cemetery on Sandy Ridge.
