Coeburn, VA ~ Robert Stewart Brown, 66 passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton, Virginia.
He was a loving husband and father. His Lord and family were his life. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Coeburn. He served in the military for 23 years with the U.S. Marine Corp, Army and Army National Guard. serving in Vietnam and Operation Desert Shield/Storm in Saudi Arabia. He was a member of the VFW Post in Coeburn and former assistant scout leader with Coeburn Boy Scout Troop 301. He was a former member of the masonic lodge in Coeburn and a retired employee of the Virginia Dept. of Transportation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edwin Brown and Jessie Pearl Yingling Brown, sisters, Anne Diffendorfer and Minnie Ingle.
He issurvived by his wife, Billie Counts Brown; two daughters, Vanessa Ivens, and husband, Philip and Victoria Brown, all of Knoxville, TN; two sons, Brian Edwards Brown, Lynchburg, VA and Robert Shane Brown, Coeburn; mother in law, Connie Counts, Coeburn; a sister, Blanche Baumgardner and husband, Clyde, Pennington Gap; a brother, Harvey Brown of IL; grandson, Wyatt Brown, and granddaughter, Morgan Ivens, both of Knoxville, TN.
A memorial service for Robert Stewart Brown will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Adkins officiating. The Family will receive friends at the church from 5 PM until service time. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, VA.
