Rodger Wayne Greear, 78, entered into rest Friday, October 11, 2024, at his home. He was born in Norfolk, VA and later he and Sharon moved back to the mountains.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rodger Greear, a beloved friend and cherished member of Coeburn First Baptist Church and community. Rodger unexpectedly passed at his home yesterday, October 11, 2024. Rodger was 78 years old.
A true pillar of strength and kindness, Rodger loved serving others. As a deacon at First Baptist Church Coeburn, he was a source of inspiration and support to countless individuals, offering compassion in times of need. His infectious laughter and larger-than-life personality drew people to him.

Rodger was a Deacon, usher, a member of the counting and building and grounds committees and was an integral part of the church's security team, along with countless other duties as needed. His commitment to hard work and vigilance reflected his deep love for his community. He could be found volunteering in the Hope Center almost every day of the week. Friends and family will remember him not only for his unwavering dedication but also for his generous spirit. He was always ready to lend a hand, whether it was helping a neighbor or volunteering at church or the Hope Center.

Rodger could be described a lot of ways but most of all he was kind and generous.  He will be missed.

There will be no formal services held for Rodger.
