Shelby Jean Powers Nixon, 86, of Coeburn, VA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.  She was a daughter of the late Rev. Wade Powers and Alley Fair Craiger Powers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jeff Nixon and a daughter, Teresa Ellen Hamilton.

Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Teena Ray and husband, Bud; a son, Robert Nixon and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Matthew Hamilton and wife Heather, Joseph Porter and wife Sherry, Israel Hamilton and wife, Kelly, Meghan Menneguin and husband Niclas, Kristen Kimberlin and husband Chris, Ben Ray & Demi Johnson, Tra Nixon and wife, Brittni, Catherine Nixon & Casey Gray; Great grandchildren, Lexi Alley and husband Tucker, Kolton Helms, Brook Porter, Braydon Porter, Jacob Hamilton, Tinley Hamilton, Isaiah Kimberlin, Keldan Hamilton, Kenya Menneguin, Sophia Kimberlin, Paris Menneguin, Blake Hamilton, Dakota Menneguin, Bailey Nixon, Canaan Gray, Cheyenne Menneguin; Great great grandchild, Brooks Alley.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Estes Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Matthew Rose officiating.  Special music will be provided by Debra and Carol Slemp.  Committal will follow at Greenwood Acres Cemetery with Tra Nixon, Ben Ray, Joseph Porter, Brayden Porter, Chris Kimberlin, Isaiah Kimberlin, Casey Gray and Jacob Hamilton serving as Pallbearers.

The family sends a special thank you to the wonderful staff of The Village at Allandale in Kingsport and Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to their loved one.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends memorial contributions be made in Shelby's honor to Alzheimer' Research Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
