Coeburn, VA

Shelia Imogene McCarty, 70, entered into rest Friday, August 25, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN. She was born November 14, 1952, to the late Clyde and Louise Brummett. Shelia was very active in her community. She loved to help with ballgames, the youth activities at school and had been helping for over 25 years.

Along with her parents, Shelia is preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Freddie McCarty, Sr.; son, Elbert Freddie McCarty, Jr.; sister, Margaret B. Smith.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Becky Turner and Arthur Turner of Coeburn, VA, and Brittany McCarty and Dalton Wireman of Coeburn, VA; her special friend, Deventae Mooney of Coeburn, VA; brother, Martin Brummett and Kathy of Gastonia, NC; sister, Freda Sexton and Buddy of St. Paul, VA; grandchildren, Colton Franks, Dakota Turner and Saphire Mullins , and Taylor Turner; great grandchildren, Eastyn Luke Mac Turner; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Estes Funeral Home of Coeburn, VA. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Robert Cantrell and Pastor Terry Rose officiating. Entombment will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Gardens in Castlewood, VA.
