Steven "Butch"  Allen Meade, 54, of Coeburn, VA, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Johnson City Medical Center.

Born on January 3, 1971, in Norton, VA, Steven was the son of Calvin C. Meade and Frankie M. Meade. After graduating from Twin Springs High School in 1989, he served his community as a volunteer firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician with Scott County Rescue. He later built a career as a short-haul truck driver, working for several companies including Lowe's and Wise Lumber. Steven was medically retired in 2013 and was a resident of Heritage Hall at the time of his passing.

Steven attended St. Mary's Chapel Church in Coeburn, VA and was baptized in the Clinch River. Steven enjoyed classic 1980s television dramas such as The Dukes of Hazzard and The A-Team, and he deeply loved his dog, Diesel.

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin; mother, Frankie; sister, Vickie; sister-n-law Diane, and paternal grandparents, Ambrose & Martha Meade; and maternal grandparents, Ollie & Bessie Trivette.

Steven is survived by his daughters, Chelsea and Brianna, and son-in-law Jay Sexton; brother, Billy Meade, as well as his sisters and their husbands Glenda & Les Mayhew, Cathy & David Moore, Kimberly & Roy Branch, and Tonya & Gary Maggard.

Steven's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Heritage Hall for the care and kindness they provided during his time there.

A graveside service will be held Monday, December 29, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the Baker Cemetery in Coeburn, VA, with Pastor Marty Puckett officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 pm for the graveside.
