Teresa Vowell McCorkel Powers, 72, of Appalachia, VA entered in to rest Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, VA, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born in Cocoa Beach, FL on November 8, 1953, to the late James and Barbara Vowell.

Teresa loved her family deeply. She enjoyed playing cards, playing Yahtzee with her grandchildren, and had a very big sense of humor. She was a member of the Dunbar Methodist Church in the Dunbar Community of Appalachia, VA.

In addition to her parents, Teresa is preceded in death by her two husbands, Bob Powers, and William McCorkel; sons, James McCorkel and William McCorkel, Jr.; granddaughter, Audreonia Deel; and brother, James Vowell, Jr.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Billie Deel and husband, Robert of Appalachia, VA; four grandchildren; brothers, Randal Vowell and family of FL, and Edward Vowell and family of TN; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Per her wishes no services will be held at this time.
