Terry Funk, 76, of Coeburn, VA entered into rest Sunday morning, December 17, 2023 at his residence.

Born July 5, 1947 in Coeburn, VA, he was a son of Bertie Hutchinson Funk and the late Fred Wythe Funk.

Terry had a pure heart. He was a very hard worker and took pride in everything he learned from his father.  Terry always said he was an entrepreneur like his father.  He loved his family and antique cars. His pride and joy was his black 1946 Plymouth Coupe. He recently bought a 1976 Dodge truck that put a huge smile on his face. Terry had a giving spirit. He was a donor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital for over 30 years.

Terry owned several businesses over the years.  He owned Coeburn Dry Cleaners, Coeburn Garage, an asphalt company, a taxi service, a number of rental properties and drove a truck for the coal mines. He had his hands in a little bit of everything and attributed his success to his father.  He took pride in his work ethic and would help anyone in need.

In addition to his father, Terry was preceded in death by a son, Craig Funk and a daughter, Bobbie Lynn Funk.

Surviving are his mother, Bertie Funk; life long companion, Judy Hammonds; daughter, Judith Evans; sisters, Virginia Gouge, Gail Hamilton, Saundra Lund, Jeanette Deloach, Louise Kelley, Vickie Funk Lee; grandchildren, Macey Funk, Cody Farmer, Austin Evans. (His children and grandchildren were his world).

Visitation will be Friday, December 22, 2023 from 11:00 -12:00 at Estes Funeral Home.  Services will be conducted at 12:00 in the funeral home chapel . Burial will follow at Adkins Cemetery on Caney Ridge in Coeburn, VA.
