ThomasAndrew Holbrook, 92 of Sandy Ridge, died Friday, March 2, 2007 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia, following a courageous battle with cancer and pneumonia.
Thomas was a coal miner for over 40 years. He was an avid outdoors enthusiast loving to hunt and fish. Thomas was a devoted and loving husband and father. He had a contagious smile and a kind word for everyone. His devotion to God will remain with those who knew him.
Thomas was born Feb. 14, 1915 in Dante, Virginia to the late Charles Nelson and Easter Ann McCoy Holbrook. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rilda Elizabeth Evans Holbrook and siblings; Shaler, George, Everett, Grover, Anna Bell, Grace, Ethel, Lori, Dorothy and Alta.
Survivors include his second wife, Virginia Hughes Jones Holbrook; three children, Orlies and son-in-law, Conrad Dreas, Sandy Ridge, Clarius and son-in-law, William Clark, Mechanicsville, MD and Glada Hearn, Hamlet, NC; step-son, Harold Jones, Wise, VA; Step-daughters, Sue Alman, Jonesboro, TN, Jennifer Jones, Rochester, NY; great friends, Stafford and Sissy Richardson; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews

Visitation for Thomas Holbrook will be held at Estes Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday March 4, 2007 after 4:00 P.M. and funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. with Rev. Millard Laney and Rev. Leslie Ritchie officiating. Burial will be at Edwards Cemetery in Coeburn, VA on Monday, March 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM. The family will meet and the funeral home and leave at 10:30 AM in procession to the cemetery. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave. NE, Coeburn, VA.
