Troy Oakley Freeman, Jr., 79, of Coeburn, entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 28, 2025 at his home.

Born in Coeburn, VA, he was a son of the late Troy Oakley Freeman, Sr and Martha Mary Marone Freeman.

He served his country in the Vietnam Conflict from 1967-1969 and was Honorably discharged from the US Army.  Troy was a member of the Coeburn VFW, a Deacon at Pippin Chapel Church on Caney Ridge, volunteered as a  coach at Eastside Youth Football and was a volunteer with Coeburn Little League for many years. He retired as an equipment operator for surface coal mining.

Troy loved the Lord, loved gardening and loved sports.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry and Terry Freeman.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Amburgey Freeman of the home; daughter, Andrese Funk and husband Wesley of Coeburn, VA; sisters, Sharon Hale of Coeburn, VA, Mattie Cain of Kingsport, TN, Virginia Freeman of North Carolina, and Helen Artrip of Clintwood, VA; grandchildren, Cody Funk and Chloe Funk; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Visitation will be  2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Estes Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Nolan Stanley and Bro. Robert Amburgey officiating. Military Honors will be provided at the funeral home at the conclusion of the service.  Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery on DC Caney Ridge Road.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
