Vernon Porter, 71, entered into rest on Thursday evening, January 25, 2023 at Maple Grove Rehab and Care Center in Lebanon, VA after an extended period of declining health.

Born in Norton, VA, he was a son of the late Eugene and Ethel Porter, he was known to be a "jack of all trades". His careers included working as a Police Officer for the town of Coeburn, various public service jobs, and most recently he worked as a funeral assistant for Estes Funeral Home. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his special friends, Verda Ruth Puckett, Curtis and Judy Puckett, and Sarah Puckett Davis.

Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 pm on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Greenwood Acres Cemetery in Coeburn, VA.

Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45 PM for the services.

A heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Maple Grove Rehab and Care Center for the wonderful care and attention they provided to Vernon during his stay there.
