William "Hershel Buchanan, 81, of Coeburn, VA, entered into rest Friday, November 28, 2025, at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY. He was born June 20, 1944, to the late Grover and Bernice Odle Buchanan in Coeburn, VA. He was a retired coalminer and was a Foreman at the time of his retirement at VIC.

In addition to his parents, Hershel is preceded in death by his siblings, Ruth Nester, Shirley Blevins, Don Buchanan, Ralph Buchanan, and Willard Buchanan; step-daughter, Tammy White.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his daughters, Christine Patton, and Deana Mutter; sister, Joyce King; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm and burial to follow in the Buchanan Cemetery at a later date.
